Adolph Modeers collection ”En del af Kunskapen, Stockholmsfabrikerna 1766”(translated: A part of the skills, Stockholm manufactures 1766) Nordiska Museet, Stockholm. Nr 13e.

Sample of white silk, with pattern made of floating pattern warp. The warp floats in the pattern and is bound in the  background and on the reverse by the ground warp in tabby. The French name of this technique is droguet.

Behind the sample is a note which says that the fabric cost 20 riksdaler per Swedish ell -59,38 cm- and was produced by A. Westmans silk manufactory. Droguet was one of the biggest product of the Swedish manufactories. This fabric was used mostly for men’s wear, but in Swedish collections it is also found in women’s short gowns, jackets, stays, shoes and caps.
